Some of the flexible-boiler engines lingered on the roster for 18-19 years, with the last ones going to scrap in 1929. How many of those years they were actually out pulling trains, I can't say. The 3322 at least was still servicable in 1920 when it was tested against a new 3800-class Liming (and lost out in nearly every category).Get Price
Aug 10, 2017 · Tek Tube is a leading manufacturer of welded boiler and heat exchanger tubes located in Tulsa Oklahoma. Oct 14, 2012 · There was an article some years ago in Trains about the "prairie Mallets". In addition to the Liming-2 freight Mallets, some of which had ordinary Mallet boilers, AT&SF also had some Liming-2 passenger Mallets without the flexible boiler. What is Steam Boiler? A steam boiler or steam generator is a device used to create steam by applying heat energy to water. Although the definitions are somewhat flexible, it can be said that older steam generators were commonly termed boilers and worked at low to medium pressure (7–2,000 kPa or 1–290 psi) but, at pressures above this, it is more usual to speak of a steam …Get Price

Not that I'm suggesting that this would work in reality - the Triplexes that were actually built were terrible and barely had enough steam to operate, and the Santa Fe mallet classes 1158 and 3300 that used flexible boilers were pretty miserable too.Get Price
